What You Should Do Right Now
If your child was born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028, they're eligible for the $1,000 seed contribution.
To claim it, a parent or guardian makes the Form 4547 election, fastest in your IRS Online Account (about 5-10 minutes). Enrollment isn't automatic, and there are no income limits.
There's no deadline to do it. The IRS says the election can be filed at any time.
During the initial rollout, families filed IRS Form 4547 with their 2025 taxes to lock in eligibility. Now that accounts are open, the $1,000 is deposited once your child's account is activated in the Trump Accounts app.
Is There a Deadline?
No. The election can be filed at any time, and eligible children still get the $1,000 seed once it's processed. The only real cutoff is December 31 of the year your child turns 17.

Who Can Open an Account?
Any U.S. child under 18 with a Social Security Number is eligible for a Trump Account. The $1,000 seed is specifically for children born 2025 through 2028. Children born before 2025 can still open an account, they just don't receive the seed. See how much your child could receive over time.
